The third generation of the electric hybrid Toyota Prius is officially launched on the 1st August 2009. The new Prius gets an all new 1.8 turbo charged lean burn engine that emits a low 89 g/km of carbon dioxide and delivers fuel economy of up to 72mpg. The Prius is rated VED Band A and qualifies for free road tax yet despite its green creditional performance is improved with a 0-60mph time of 10.4 seconds and a top speed of 112mph. A new option on the latest Prius is a solar moon roof which powers the ventilation system sand reduces the cars reliance on airconditioning.
